Unruly by David Mitchell was a blast to read. The iconic british comedian brings his sharp wit to a history of the British Monarchy.
For a person (Australian) who didn’t get a complete education of British Monarchs in school, but has a mild interest, it was a fabulous introductory read into that realm. It is fast, snappy, quipy and in parts audibly hilarious.
Mitchell does an excellent job setting the issues of the King’s and Queens within the culture of the time. Because, obviously, their blood lust, racism and religious intolerance would make them all terrible leaders in the modern day.
This book is not going to change the world, but if you are looking for a fun and light-hearted history read, I highly recommend.
