This is one of Orwell’s famous critiques on Communism. However fitting it might have been back when first published, and the red-scare was a big deal, for me in the 21st century it falls flat in a number of areas. Namely, the communism of the pigs relies on a completely uneducated workforce. You can argue that at the end of the book the pigs are deliberately reducing education is true, however at the start everyone gets to read. The cyclical nature of revolution returing to staus-quo is a poignent feature. However, Orwell doesn’t provide us with a personal evaluation of this, rather just outlines the steps. This book is important in it’s day, but for me, has far less impact than 1984.
