A Clockwork Orange was jetted into the social zeitgeist through the movie of the same name, directed by Stanley Kubrick. I visited the book, after spotting it in a book store in Paris.
The first section of the book I found deeply unsettling. Never has a book made me put it down for the sheer nature of content. Whilst comfronting, on further reading, this book turns into one of the better bildungsromans I have ever read.
Real character change and alteration whilst questioning the role of forgiveness and the state is a wonderful mix. Although not super impactful for me personally, still a definite worthwhile read.
