Fandom Incoming
Right now is a perfect time to tell you that I am a massive G2 fan. After getting back into the sport after covid, I found that all the teams were much different from when I left. Therefore, I decided to follow the team of my favourite player, Niko. Just know that this article will be through the lens of a fan of the team.
Background
What the team did by benching JKS, the Nexa debacle, then Snax coming in, some would consider “interesting” at best. I think benching JKS was a bad move, however, as spoken about in my previous post, this might be due to the “soft cap” that exists in esports now. Additionally, there was rumors that JKS’s attitude left much to be desired.
The replacement with Nexa was bad and went worse.
Replacing Nexa with Malbs and moving on from Hooxi with a Snax replacement I think was an extermely shrewd move. G2 knew Niko might be leaving, so they import a known IGL quantity to try and make a deep run at the Shanghai Major. As of writitng this, G2 are 3-1 in the elimination stage and heading to playoffs. So it’s currently working.
The Future
Must Have
If Niko leaves, you must hold onto Monesy. This kid is the best player in the world currently. He needs to be your pillar of the future.
Then the obvious move is to move Malbs into Niko’s spots. This is an easy fix, we are making our team young and profitable for the coming years.
Replacements
If I’m the head of G2, I would also be moving on from Snax. I would also move Hunter into the IGL. It’s time for Hunter too upgrade. He isn’t the dynamic top 20 player of the past, however, he still is a good fragger and in some games comes online and bangs. If you replace Snax with Hunter, you are getting a fragging upgrade for sure, and I believe you arn’t getting a detractor in the calling department. So we have:
- Hunter
- Malbs
- Monesy
We need an anchor and another rifler. We are expecting Malbs to be our entry, aggresive rifler.
The Timing is Perfect
About a month prior to this, it was announced that Spinx would not resingn with Vitality and he is open for offers. This could not be more perfect. We have Malbs and Monesy on not much money yet, we can make a splash in the freeagent market this upcoming season and Spinx is the perfect balanced, lurker type rifle that will fit perfectly into our CT sided roles. ‘
And Last, Perfection
For our anchor I believe G2 will make a run at Perfecto. Despite the rumors of his bad english, and despite him being out of the game for a significant time now, he is a proven extermely capable anchor. Plus I think you can get him from C9’s bench for a reasonable price.
People on forums have been saying G2 will die when Niko leaves. These idiots cannot be more wrong. The post-Niko pivot for G2 is incredibly simple and straight-forward. I’m very excited for this teams future.
Other Considerations
After this major, I believe it is highly likely that Mouz will split up. Like Europe sailing to Africa in the 1800’s, the race will be on to poach almost every Mouz player. The obvious ones are if you can get Siuhy and Jimpphat you definitely get them. I don’t think Xertion fits, Malbs is already our aggresive rifler. Similarly with Brollan, I think Spinx would make a much better third rifle.
Fandom 2:
I will not be taking my allegiance to Falcons. I will not support a Saudi-Arabian backed team. That is one step too far for me.
